We don’t normally associate tiny houses with high tech gadgets but the Covo Mio, by Covo Tiny Homes, isn’t your typical tiny house. The compact towable dwelling is packed to the gills with internet-connected gadgets.
The Covo Mio is based on a 26 ft (7.9 m)-long double-axle trailer and measures 330 sq ft (30 sq m) of floorspace.
A Schlage Z-Wave door lock handles security duties while a Bluetooth sound system and LED lighting are integrated with a Wink Hub to offer smartphone control over lighting and audio. An Amazon Echo and Nest thermostat complete the internet-of-things gadgets, while smaller stuff like USB charging ports and 50-inch TV are also installed.
The Mio includes a living room, office/TV area, kitchen and breakfast. The bathroom features toilet and shower, while the bedroom has enough room for a double. Electricity can come from either a standard hookup or solar panels.
Interestingly, the Mio starts at US$59,999 for a version that’s turnkey but without the high-tech gadgets, while all those bump the price up to around $100,000.
