New Frontier Tiny Homes previously impressed us with its luxury Alpha tiny house and now the firm is back with a new model that’s no less focused on living the good life, but also has room for a young family inside. Named the Escher, it includes a home office, walk-in closet, and is wired ready to run off-the-grid with solar power.
The Escher is named after the owners’ child and, we’d assume, the famous artist M.C. Escher. It’s based on a 33 ft (10 m)-long trailer and measures a total floorspace of 300 sq ft (27.8 sq m).
Like the Greenmoxie tiny house, the Escher is partly clad in Shou Sugi Ban-treated cedar, which is a novel Japanese method of charring wood to preserve it and protect it from bugs, rot, and the like. This tiny house opens up to the outside with large glass sliding doors on one side and garage-style glass doors that are topped by a large awning.
The interior of the Escher is like no tiny house you’ve ever seen (well, except the Alpha…), and a huge 12 seater dining table and benches is hidden under the the stairs for when the owners want to throw a party. The kitchen also includes a mini-dishwasher for once everyone has gone home.
There are two bedrooms in the Escher, a small loft type room for a child and a large bedroom in the gooseneck area that includes a king size bed.
Other notable features include a large walk-in closet and a home office with standing desk. The bathroom includes a large shower and composting toilet.
The Escher is on the market for $139,000. Head over to New Frontier Tiny Homes for more information.
