Though at its most popular in North America, the small living movement is also growing in popularity across the pond. Baluchon is one of the more interesting firms producing homes in France at the moment. The Essen’Ciel is a nice example of its work and recently sold for around €60,000 (roughly US$65,000).
The Essen’Ciel measures just 6 m (19.6 ft)-long, which is really very small, but European towing laws mean their tiny houses can’t be as big as their American counterparts. That said, Baluchon shoehorned a lot of house into this little home.
The ground floor includes a lounge with sofa bed, a bathroom with shower, and a relatively spacious kitchen.
The large staircase leads to the sole sleeping loft, which has enough room to sleep two people.
The Essen’Ciel gets its electricity from a standard RV-style hookup and the toilet is a composting model.
