Canadian architecture firm Studio North has completed a charming micro-shelter called the Birdhut. It sleeps two people and its facade is covered in birdhouses to encourage local birds to make it their home.
The Birdhut is located in a garden in British Columbia and accessed by bridge. There’s no amenities as such but a natural spring and campfire are nearby and there’s a double bed inside.
It’s raised above ground on stilts made from salvaged logs and the cladding and platform are also made from reclaimed wood. The walls are made from polycarbonate, letting in plenty of daylight.
The birdhouses are cut into the shelter’s facade and carefully measured to ensure lots of different local bird species can make it their home.
