Glass houses are a lot of fun, but not always very practical. However, this recently completed project is a glass house that you could actually live in.

Designed by YOD Group, the Guesthouse Under the Reed Roof measures 50 sq m (538 sq ft). It’s imagined as a contemporary take on a traditional Ukrainian rural home. It’s made by wraparound glass walls topped by a traditional thatched roof.

A central concrete block contains the bathroom, positioning it safely away from prying eyes. On either side of this lies the bedroom and the living area. The former is fitted with remote-controlled curtains for privacy, while the latter features a fireplace and some seating.

Elsewhere in the home is a simple kitchen area. Admittedly it’s not really suitable for hosting parties or cooking large meals but it is equipped with a small fridge, a kettle, and a coffee machine.

The home is also fitted with a wood-burning stove and a heat pump to help keep out the chill of the winters.
